Brazilian Butt Lift Risks And Safety

The risks involved in Brazilian butt lift plastic surgery, or fat transfer buttock augmentation, are relatively lower. However, the patient should still have clarity about the procedure.

Board certified plastic surgeon Roger Tsai, MD provides Brazilian butt lift to patients in West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, CA , and surrounding locations.

Infection

The risk of infection is higher if the surgical facility and operating room are not sterile, or if the patient does not clean the wounds are directed. In case signs of infection such as fever, persistent redness, yellow or green drainage, or a foul smell are seen during the post-operative recovery period, the patient should promptly reach out to the surgeon.

Unwanted Scarring

In case of the Brazilian butt lift cosmetic surgery, scarring is typically minimal. An expert surgeon will make very tiny incisions to insert a narrow cannula for liposuction and subsequent fat transfer to the butt region. But if the surgeon has limited or no experience with liposuction, they may place larger or conspicuous incisions, which can cause unwanted scarring.

Reabsorbed Fat

When fat is transferred for a Brazilian butt lift, some of the injected fat may be reabsorbed. This can slightly diminish the final effect of the procedure. An experienced can reduce the risk of reabsorption by injecting the highest quality purified fat.

The patient should not put a strain on the rear for around two weeks after the surgery. They should wear compression garments all the time, according to the surgeon’s guidelines. The fat absorption can be maximized by placing a higher number of smaller injections into diverse sites of normal tissue.

Seroma

Fluid accumulation can develop underneath the incision sites, creating painful inflammation and increasing the risks of infection. The placement of drainage tubes and incision care can minimize the risk of seroma.

If the patient experiences this condition after the surgery, they should reach out to the surgeon to suction out the serous fluid that has collected beneath the skin.

Excessive Bleeding

At times, the wounds may bleed profusely if the incisions have not been appropriately sutured, or if the patient suffers from delayed healing, or has used anticoagulant drugs.

In the initial month after Brazilian butt lift, the patient should avoid aggressive activities to reduce the risk of bleeding. In exceptional cases, excessive bleeding may necessitate blood transfusion or additional surgery.

Tissue Necrosis

The modification of the butt tissue can sometimes restrict their blood and nutrition supply. This can cause the healthy surrounding tissue to die. The decimated cells may lead to stiffness, discoloration, and skin aberrations. The necrosis affected tissue may have to be excised. This risk is higher in patients who are smokers.

Prolonged Loss of Sensation

After the Brazilian butt lift surgery, there may be temporary numbness in certain areas of the buttock tissue. The sensitivity will slowly return. But, in rare cases, if the nerves sustain damage during the surgical procedure, the patient may experience extended or permanent sensation loss.
